Damp Proof Mesh Membrane – 1.2m x 20m Pam Mesh 3 is a cost-effective tanking membrane manufactured from high-density polyethylene (HDPE). This mesh faced damp proofing membrane has 3mm studs formed on one face of the product, which are spaced at 20mm centres in both directions. It has a polypropylene mesh welded to the other side, which forms a key for plastering or ‘dot and dab’ dry lining. This semi-transparent tanking membrane is robust but pliable and can be easily bent around corners and cut with a knife or scissors. It is quick and easy to install: Fix at 250-300mm centres using mesh membrane plugs fitted into an 8mm hole. Seal joints with butyl rubber waterproofing tape Plaster, tile or dot and dab plasterboard sheets directly onto the mesh face. This low-cost tanking membrane is ideal for: Plastering after the insertion of a damp-proof course, where it is necessary to plaster the walls without allowing a period for initial drying Wet rooms and showers Difficult to treat areas of dampness or contamination (disused chimney breasts, high external ground levels, etc.) Pam Mesh 3 has an overall thickness of 3.5mm with ample air gap between studs to allow walls to breathe or drain. Damp Proof Membrane Kit - Preparation A) Clean the substrate to remove all loose debris and organic matter. Plaster should be removed as it can soften over time, which will weaken the fix of the membrane to the wall. If the wall render is ingood condition, it does not have to be removed and the membrane can be fitted directly over. If the render is damaged, local repairs may be required.B) Loose or crumbling render should be removed and local repairs made. If the render is in very poor condition, all of it may need to be removed. Obtain as flat a surface as possible. If the wall isundulating, better results are produced if the wall surface is dubbed-out flat with sand & cement prior to installation of the membrane rather than dubbing out over the top of the membrane.C) A flat uniform surface to the substrate means that the plaster or render above the membrane will be uniform also and less likely to have cracking caused by differential thicknesses. If evidence of bacterialgrowth can be seen, use a fungicidal product prior to the fitting of the membrane. If any evidence of wet rot or dry rot is seen, have it dealt with by a qualified remedial specialist.D) If a new slab is to be laid as part of the works, it is preferable to fit the membrane prior to the laying of the floor slab with the floor DPM extending upwards in front of the Platon PB2 ready for the concretepour.
