Description The Schagerl Spyder features a ‘vertical action rotary valve’ setup for a smooth, free movement between notes (particularly when slurring), while still being able to hold the instrument like a piston Bb (particularly useful for mute work, page changes etc). Although at first glance, the Spyder appears similar in design to the iconic Ganschorn, the wrap of the Spyder is much ‘tighter’, with shorter braces. You’ll notice when looking at the trumpet from above the valves, that the Spyder is a much ’slimmer’ design. It also features a different bell, tuning slide and leadpipe design. The result is an instrument that is very responsive and versatile. The Spyder is a particularly popular choice for chamber groups, recording sessions, and small jazz groups, however its flexibility means it can seamlessly cross over to larger settings.
