Description Swedish Dish Cloths Go plastic free in the kitchen with our sustainable Swedish dish cloths. These compostable dishcloths are a brilliant alternative to plastic-based cleaning products. Made from a blend of cellulose sponge (sustainably sourced wood pulp) and waste cotton fibres that are too short for use in the textile industry. Naturally biodegradable and highly absorbent, they hold up to 20 times their weight in water – a reusable alternative to paper towels and conventional sponges. Choose from three ocean-inspired designs, printed using water-based, environmentally friendly inks: Albatross (orange) Sea Turtle (green) Whale (blue) Or a pack of all three cloths Each cloth measures 17.5 x 20cm. The set of three comes packaged in a recycled cardboard sleeve – leave us a note at checkout if you’d prefer us to leave this out. We based these designs on marine animals most threatened by plastic pollution. For instance, over 100,000 albatrosses are thought to die each year after ingesting plastic – a sobering reminder of the urgent need to reduce plastic waste. Why switch to a compostable dishcloth? Unlike plastic dishcloths, which shed microplastics and take hundreds of years to degrade, our compostable cellulose sponge dishcloths break down naturally in home compost. What’s more, they’re tough on dirt, gentle on surfaces, and kind to the planet. By choosing reusable and compostable options like these, you’re helping to reduce landfill waste and protect marine ecosystems – all while keeping your kitchen spotless. Caring for your cellulose sponge Rinse after each use. When needed, clean in the top rack of your dishwasher or in a 30–60°C washing machine cycle. Air dry to maintain shape (avoid tumble drying). Once your cloth wears out cut it into small pieces and add it to your compost bin. It will decompose in around six weeks. Good to know: We ship all Battle Green orders in plastic-free packaging. Our products are also certified vegan and cruelty-free by PETA. Browse more eco-friendly household swaps in our shop.
